The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo brought in 100,000 more people to the 2011 show for a record-breaking attendance of 2.26 million attendees, reported the Houston Business Journal This is the second year in a row that attendance has exceeded 2 million, the paper reported.Brad Paisley’s concert on March 19 brought in the most people this year — 73,825 (making it the third-highest attended in the event's history) followed closely by Miranda Lambert’s concert on March 16 (73,811) and the 73,469 people who attended the La Arrolladorra Banda El Limon and La Leyenda concert on March 13.In addition, a record 244,184 people visited the rodeo’s kick-off event, the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest. Last year’s attendance was 221,229.And apparently those 2.26 million people were hungry. Here’s how much food they ate:• 122,800 funnel cakes• 111,000 turkey legs (20 small turkey farms!)• 66,000 caramel and candied apples (two orchards!)• 20,000 pounds of sugar for cotton candy• 9,000 pounds of strawberries• 5,000 cans of whipped cream• 10,800 chocolate-covered strawberries• 30,000 glasses of lemonade• 3 tons of catfish• 50,000 pounds of potatoes• 40,000 deep-fried Oreos.
